I shall agree with the Sable!! Much explains this, really.

That was something to be said. Timon's story should be considered as a sharpened addon to the base TLK movie. TLK1 became so much famous that it needed a continuation. TLK2 however was not what Disney thought people will admire. So, to correct their mistake they remade TLK1 in different view. However, they needed to have at least one contrasting difference between TLK and TLK3 - that is the overwhelming fun (the fun actually is not so much in place but it is felt through the whole movie)

Well, our views may vary, but our love for TLK shall forever remain the same.

Agreed. And this love forces us to reconsider our favourite cartoon... in its any display.
