I always wondered if Mufasa had any extent of knowing whether or not Scar was collaborating with the hyenas? Do you think he knew to some degree that Scar was communicating with the Hyenas?
Couldn't Mufasa have smelled Scar when he was rescuing Simba from the elephant graveyard? - Scar was standing right above him.

I think Mufasa knows to an extent that he was at access to the hyeas.....but I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas or even story information on this. It's always bothered me, having Mufasa be so awares of his kingdom but oblivious to Scar's relationship with the hyenas.

I guess it is a bit of a concern, but if you remember in the beginning of the movie, Mufasa was indeed suspicious of Scar... I mean, wouldn't you be if your majordomo was in the mouth of your brother?

Mufasa did what any good lion would have done and forgiven his brother for his mistakes... but sometimes forgiveness is not a good thing.

I don't think Mufasa really knew that Scar was dealing with hyaenas...

Until after the scene in the Elephant Graveyard, we didn't, either.
